Processing Music Visualizer, try 1

it took me forever but I finally got something to workkk

the visualizer in the video is taking input from the microphone on the computer (and not a song file), so it’s processing the information in real-time :D

I used the FrequencyEnergy example to get me started and went from there. one of the most irritating parts was getting the input to come from the microphone, but I found a lot of information here that helped. it’s still rather buggy but I’m happy it’s at least doing something xD

my final goal is to create a music visualizer wall decoration for my apartment with caro, using leds and light diffusing plates similar to these. now all I need is the time to do it..

oh and song choice was only for the beat :p

anyone know anything about processing? :o

trying to program with processing

hahaha I know almost nothing about this. actually I’m not sure why I’m doing this as a break from schoolwork…

the knitting clock

The 365 Knitting Clock was designed by Siren Elise Wilhelmson to convey a sense of time by showing a process. It’s so beautiful, so tangible, and yet so abstract. Totally up our alley! Each half hour it stitches one stitch. A day is marked by a complete circle of stitches, and at the end of one year, 2 meter scarf has been completed. The future? It’s still unknitted wool. Don’t you love that?

Oh wow this is neat! Thanks omilyrose !

lately I’ve been interested in new ways of data representation~

The assignment was to come up with a concept for a display-free that utilized a gesture-based interface.

My concept is based around gestures of nervousness, excitement and anxiety. Gestures will trigger changes in the music player whether the user is conscious of performing the gestures or not.

Personally I often listen to music to calm me down when I’m frustrated, nervous, excited, etc. Hopefully the process of using these gestures to control a music player will make the user conscious of the gestures they wouldn’t normally realize they do. Noticing these gestures may help them become aware of their anxiety, thus giving them more power and control over it.

Music in the video is NOT owned by me. :]

I found an LED in my pocket today

I think it may have been from working on my scarf project xD

it’s not as bad as the times I dreamt about making circuits at least..

so I created a blogspot.. I needed a place where I could post some reading responses for and interactive arts class, and I didn’t want to use tumblr since that would mean continuously logging in and out of two accounts (and also posting some random stuff that most people wouldn’t be interested in). xD

I’m going to be posting all my new media related projects, inpirations, etc there in case anyone is interested :D
