Here’s a simple diy I did this evening. :D
I’ve been trying to look for affordable, hipster decorations for the hipster apartment I’m going to be sharing with my friend Carolina. :]

this is what I’m working on right now :]]
eventually this will hopefully be an electronic music visualizer that you can hang up on the wall. the rectangles will light up in response to music played in a room.
it’s going to be a soft circuit (a soft circuit is made up of conductive thread and fabric instead of soldering and pcb boards) so that you can roll it up for storage and transport, and easily pin up because it is lightweight. :D
edit: I got the leds to start working here..
Music Visualizer created with Processing and ESS Library
1/2 final projects done for this class :D;
one of the final projects in my interactivity class was to create something visual programmed with processing. I made a music visualizer using the ess library (audio input is coming live from the mic). I’m imagining this projected on a wall for a party..
song in video is faberge falls for shuggie by of Montreal
can you tell what the image/graphic is supposed to depict? I’ve been working with it so long that I’m not sure it looks like what I want it to… D;
Processing Music Visualizer, try 1
it took me forever but I finally got something to workkk
the visualizer in the video is taking input from the microphone on the computer (and not a song file), so it’s processing the information in real-time :D
I used the FrequencyEnergy example to get me started and went from there. one of the most irritating parts was getting the input to come from the microphone, but I found a lot of information here that helped. it’s still rather buggy but I’m happy it’s at least doing something xD
my final goal is to create a music visualizer wall decoration for my apartment with caro, using leds and light diffusing plates similar to these. now all I need is the time to do it..
oh and song choice was only for the beat :p
so, fleshrabbit sent me an image of laser kitty not too long ago, and I knew from then on that I wanted to see him everyday
so now he is on the cover of my new moleskine ;p
mostly sharpie paint pens with some copic marker
