If any of you have been wondering lately what I have been up to, and why I haven’t been posting nearly as much as usual, here’s a basic list of my current projects. :]

• A corset with a ribcage that will light up to music/ambient noise. I’m making this for Engineering Open House which is on march 9-10.
• A collaboration with Madk!n! that we will be shooting on march 3.
• A couple new shirt designs for clothing by szmoon.
• College coursework!

The photo is a screenshot of a program I wrote (for class) that went bad. It’s eventually supposed to cover up the background with the rainbow static, but I tried to make it process too much information and it froze on me (and added some extra stuff..). It still needs some fine-tuning.

I thought it looked kinda cool though so I’m sharing, haha~

Soo.. normally I blog about everything, and usually not too long after it happens. It’s become a habit I guess, though I find it strange because I could never keep a consitent diary or journal when I was younger. I’d write one or two entries and then never touch it again. Same with scrapbooks, photo albums and even blogger blogs. :o

But for some reason I’ve consistently used tumblr to keep track of my life, and to help me remember the details of different projects and memories.

But anywayy (sorry for the rambling, haha), I’m surprised it took me around a week and a half to blog about this particular news; I now have a boyfriend~

It was quite strange to call him that at first (and still a little?). I’ve only technically had one other ‘boyfriend’ and haven’t called anyone ‘boyfriend’ for maybe a year and a half. Some people might say it’s just an uneccesary label, but it does actually make a difference, at least for me.

But as strange as it may be to have a boyfriend, I think I’m warming up to the idea now. ;p His name is Michael, he is quite sweet, and so far hasn’t been scared away by getting to know me~

This past weekend, my roommate Caro and I threw our first party. :D

The idea started when I wanted to have a dumpling “party” because I didn’t get the chance to make dumplings for Chinese New Year this year. Then it turned into a pretty large potluck (I made 53 dumplings, Caro made flautas, apple salad and guacamole, and everyone else brought more food and drinks). c;

I don’t have any actual photos from the party. We really regret not getting any photos of the food before we all ate it, haha. The photo above was taken after most people left, and we were about to start playing settlers of catan.

A word of advice: it is NEVER a good idea to start teaching settlers of catan at 1am. And it’s not the first time we’ve tried it either.. ;p

Alejandra wore the sin kitten crop top she bought. ;D Isn’t her outfit cute (with the red belt too~)?

Oh, and we have absolutely no idea who took these photos (besides the one of Alejandra’s outfit). :p But I kind of like how they turned out anyway..they look so warm and happy, haha..

It was a busy but nice weekend. :] I still have some messages to get to sorry! (I’ve answered the non-anonymous ones, but still need to make a post with the anonymous messages~)

This weekend has been quite strange.. things that I didn’t expect to happen happened regardless of my expectations.

But anyway, here are two things I just received in the mail! Why are my friend so nice to me? (Ｔ▽Ｔ) Melissa sent me a crocheted mohawk cat from etsy seller GeekyCuteCrochet. It’s… really adorable. Ahh thank you Melissaaa ♥ ♥

And Eva sent me a letter, with stickers all over the envelope of course~ She also included a page of shirt design ideas!! And she didn’t even know that earlier today I made the resolution to make a new shirt design every month.. goes to show that as my twin she will always be able to predict my thoughts.

My roommate is hiding. She didn’t realize that she’d be in my webcam photos until a few days after we rearranged the furniture in the living room. And please excuse my weird eyes/expression, I didn’t really feel like taking another photo..

It’s been such an eventful weekend, hopefully I will be able to update my blog more and answer messages soon! :]

• avoid talking about it in detail on the internet, because so many people I know in real-life read my blog
• STOP feeling sorry for myself because I feel like I have no one, especially of the guy variety, to talk to about it in person (which is more satisfying than whining on the internet)
• continue to eat mint ice cream (walgreens is the best brand because you get a huge box AND because it turns chewy on the edges)
• find someone to give me a hug soon because Toast doesn’t always let me hug him :c

I frequently do. But instead of letting my doubts or lack of a clear path slow me down, I try to force myself to keep busy on new projects, though it’s difficult to do sometimes.. Even if they aren’t what I feel like I “should” be doing, they usually lead me to find something that will lead me forward.

To me, working on random projects always feels better than sitting around feeling sorry for myself or questioning the world (those questions are too big anyway).

Which makes me recall one instance over winter break that reminded me how much I love my family. I was lying on my bed (not even with a computer) and thinking about how little money I have, how maybe I won’t find a way to make enough money to live, how I reallyyy wanted a pair of blue fuzzy platform shoes that Charlotte Free was selling but I didn’t have the money for, and how I couldn’t even justify spending the money on supplies to make my own platform shoes even though I was craving a pair.

My dad came up to my room and forced me to accept some cash to buy the supplies for platform shoes (flip flops, pretty duct tape, shoe glue). I say forced because I really dislike accepting money from my parents, since I willingly quit my job a few months ago and I don’t want that to be a burden on them.

But it worked. I started the platform shoes that night, finished them a couple days later, immediately made a pair of shoes for my mom and I was magically out of my slump. All thanks to the support and understanding of my family. ♥

What kind of slumps have you guys had, diy-related or just life in general? How’d you get out of them? I think it’s completely normal for everyone to go through this occasionally.. but it’s also good to know of ways to get out of them as quickly as posible~

Sooo.. remember that bottle of wine my friend gave me? This is what happens when two roommates want to open it when they don’t own a corkscrew.

After googling “how to open wine without a corkscrew,” we decided that hitting it against the wall in a shoe was not for us. So we poked holes into the cork with a skewer to (theoretically) release some of the pressure in the bottle, and then pushed the cork down into the bottle with a fatter skewer.

There was still a lot of pressure left in the bottle.

This morning I received a text from a friend to check under my van before driving it. I hadn’t really talked to him for a month or so, so I didn’t know what to expect.. I found this box with a letter, cookies and a bottle of wine in it.

The letter said to arrange the cookies to spell out a “super secret message.” I managed to figure it out after a bit…

I wanted to start off the new year by thanking all of you guys for all the support you’ve given me! Every one of your messages and comments means a lot to me, and you’re all so helpful when I need advice on a project or anything else. <3
