This week my DREAM CAME TRUE; I got to visit Spandex World.
Almost exactly one year ago (on July 15, 2011) I posted a photo I found on tumblr of Spandex World’s store front. I looked it up, found out it was in New York and added it to my “to visit” list.
And this past week on July 19th, my mother, Christine and I visited New York’s garment district to find this very store. :]
It was filled with every single spandex print/hologram/texture imaginable! When I visited LA’s garment district I never found a store that was JUST spandex (though there may very well be one).
I was overwhelmed, as evidenced by the photo Christine snapped below. ;p

At least I was able to control myself and we only visited a few fabric and trim stores before I begged Christine and my mother to leave the garment district (I’m not made of money and fabric can cost a lot of it, haha). I ended up purchasing only 3 fabrics on our trip, all of them from Spandex World. Below is a not so good quality instagram photo of it.

As you may have guessed, I am now back from New York. :] I’ll be blogging more photos from the trip over the next few days before I head off to Seattle to visit Eva~ And I’ll also be posting the result of my latest giveaway tomorrow! ♥

My dad asked me what kind of fabric I wanted him to look for in China, and I told him that I would love anything gaudy and sparkly - and that’s exactly what he brought back for me. *o*
All of this fabric came from the Lotus Market in Chengdu. He got me 2 meters of each (except for the top left which is 3 meters). They were wayy more affordable in China than in the US. :]
They are all so pretty and amazingly glittery!! My favorites are the bottom two~~ I still haven’t decided what to make yet.. I know I have to at least make a dress, haha.
As you will sometimes see, I am still quite spoiled by my parents.. I love them so much. c;

I have 4 yards of red velvet, what should I do with it? :o

My parents found it at Ikea for a super discounted $1.99 a yard and picked some up for me (it’s non-stretch). It’s a pretty bright red too; not superr bright, just not a deep red/maroon~

Earlier this winter I posted a preview of my efforts to organize my life. ;p Here’s the final photo of my fabric shelf!
This is in my room at my parent’s house. A few years ago my fabric was all over the house (actually it probably still is), in plastic bins, in craft cabinets, in my closet etc. And then for christmas of ‘09 my mom got me fabric organizer cards from thefabricorganizer.com. They are amazing. Originally I had thought about cutting out cardboard to accomplish the same thing. But honestly, I don’t think I would’ve been able to find enough flat cardboard for all of my fabric. The organizers are nice and sturdy, and come pre punched with tabs to hold your fabric down~
I’m going to miss this shelf and most of my fabric when I go back to my apartment.. I’ll only be taking a small portion of it with me. :p
My outfit: leggings and necklace are handmade and available in my etsy shop, crop top is by nikkilipstick, shoes are handmade by me and skirt was on sale for $7 from hot topic. :]
