thrift store boots, duct tape and paint :D
july 2007, back before I decided on being sailor saturn

So the elusive “Shoe Goo” I mentioned in my previous post? I finally found it, on accident might I add, at a Big Lots store.Too bad I don’t need it anymore. xD
On a side note, this was my first time going to a Big Lots. Is it like a Tuesday Morning and Walmart combined? That’s what it seems like to me, but I have no clue… :p
I finally finished :D
It’s surprisingly hard to take apart shoes! xD When I finally had all the pieces separate, I traced the fabric pieces and made paper patterns of them. The article recommended using “Shoe GOO” but I wasn’t able to find it anywhere.. Al local shoe repairer said sold me something they said worked the same called “Barge” original all purpose cement. It seems to work just fine. :]
This poor shoe has been sitting naked for awhile until I finally started working on it again a couple days ago. :p The fabric I got in Taiwan this summer. It’s my favoriteee. =w=
And as a warning, if anyone wants to try doing this, make sure you use All Star converse and not One Star converse. I think the article mentioned it but I hadn’t noticed.. The one star have a rubber heel in the back that makes the process just that much more difficult. D; But it still works, so if you already have one stars it’s fine.
I’m working on a pair of custom converse. :] There was an article in Craft magazine (which sadly discontinued their print version!) awhile ago about taking apart converse and making your own.

At the beginning of the year while my roommate and I were surfing online, I stumbled upon these adorable shoes. I didn’t get them because I didn’t need them and I don’t usually spend that much on shoes (I’ve also never bought shoes online before).
When I finally decided on cosplaying as Sophie I re-found the same shoes, completely on accident. ;p I ordered the color “begie.” Even though the brown shoes would be a better match to Sophie’s I decided to go with the lighter ones because I knew I’d wear them more often after the cosplay.
Only thing is when I received them the color was much different from the pair online. :o They were almost white instead of the dirty tan in the original photo. I really didn’t like the white so I decided to dye them, using a mixture of black and brown acrylic paint and water. It was enough water so that the mixture stained the canvas rather than covering it.
And here’s the result. :D The boot on the left in the photo is the stained one and the boot on the right is the original. The color is much more even now that it’s dried, it’s still a little wet in the photo. I’m really happy with how it turned out! c:
