Here are the shots from our Die Antwoord photoshoot! Can’t believe it took me this long to post them… we took them not too long after Halloween at the beginning of November. :o
In January 2012, my roommate Caro and I decided that for Halloween, we were going to be Yolandi and Ninja from the short film, Umshini Wam. And over 10 months later that’s just what we did. :]
This is what the two of them looked like in the original film:

And here’s how our costumes turned out!~
Both kigurumis (the Pikachu and Gloomy Bear jumpers) were sewn by me. Caro made her Ninja headband and yin-yang shirt, and I made my pink ZEF shirt (tutorial here) and smiley face shorts. c;
All of these super-awesome photos were taken by our friend Hugh (thank you so much! :D). The rest of them can be seen in this Flickr gallery~
Preview of the Yolandi Vi$$er and Ninja costumes I made for Caro and myself for Halloween~~
This photo was from our Halloween party last night, haha. We’re going to do a proper photoshoot later today. I checked out an awesome camera and lense from the art building just for the occasion, I’m so excited!
This photo was taken by Alejandra with my floppy disk camera. :]
I am TOO excited for Halloween.
In January my roommate Caro showed our group of friends Umshini Wam, a short 15 minute film by Die Antwoord. And not too long after that, Caro and I decided that we would be Ninja and Yolandi in pikachu and gloomy bear kigurumi’s the next Halloween.
And so, some 10 months later, that’s exactly what we’re doing. I’m not completely done painting the details on our jumpers, but here’s what Ninja and Yolandi looked like in the film:

I decided that I wanted a Yolandi costume to wear under the gloomy bear jumper in case it got too warm, so I made a shirt and shorts from the Baby’s On Fire music video. :D
The shorts were made from $0.50 jeans I bleached and dyed yellow with $0.50 fabric dye, so the total cost was $1.00 (unlike the $299 AUD version sold here). The shirt I made over the summer and uploaded a tutorial for anyone who wants to make their own~
I’ll make a more detailed post about the costumes after they’re finished and we get some cool photos. ;p
HALLOWEEN IS ALMOST HERE GUYS
:DDD
(Although I must admit I’ll be a little upset once it’s over.. )
Here is the tutorial for the ZEF shirt that Yolandi wears in the newest Die Antwoord music video. :]
Here is the link for the printable stencil: LINK
As always, let me know if you have any questions! I’m always glad to help~
As soon as I saw their new music video I knew I had to make this shirt.
Tutorial and printable stencil for the shirt will be up within a couple of days~
Please excuse the cut and paste background, haha.
In case you were interested, here is the previous die antwoord shirt I made.
