Apartment Tour :D
Ughh, still hate being in videos.. :x
After around 5 months Caro and I finally couldn’t stand our curtains anymore. They came with the apartment, and up until we rearranged the living room we were able to partially ignore them. But after we had a nice new arrangement we were reminded of just how gross and ugly the curtains were (there are giant stains on them..).
So last thursday I rushed home after my class at 7:40 pm so that we could make it to the fabric store. None of the patterned fabrics were exactly what we were looking for.. then we realized that we could make our own pattern to match the blanket that Caro put on the sofa. :D
We had to look through cell phone photos to find shots with our couch in it, haha.. but here is what we finally ended up with. :]] We estimated and bought a bunch of fabric, then used photoshop to decide what order we liked them in.
I failed to remember to check the fabric widths before we bought them (oops). Some of them ended up having 70” widths while others were 35”, so we had to do some creative rearranging of our idea. That’s why two of the panels are split colors. ;p But I actually like them that way now~
Total project time, including purchasing fabric was around 4 hours. We were in a hurry because we were holding our first party the next day, haha.
Next project for the living room is to use the leftover curtain fabric to make covers for the pillows that came with the apartment. c;
This past weekend, my roommate Caro and I threw our first party. :D
The idea started when I wanted to have a dumpling “party” because I didn’t get the chance to make dumplings for Chinese New Year this year. Then it turned into a pretty large potluck (I made 53 dumplings, Caro made flautas, apple salad and guacamole, and everyone else brought more food and drinks). c;
I don’t have any actual photos from the party. We really regret not getting any photos of the food before we all ate it, haha. The photo above was taken after most people left, and we were about to start playing settlers of catan.
A word of advice: it is NEVER a good idea to start teaching settlers of catan at 1am. And it’s not the first time we’ve tried it either.. ;p
Alejandra wore the sin kitten crop top she bought. ;D Isn’t her outfit cute (with the red belt too~)?

Oh, and we have absolutely no idea who took these photos (besides the one of Alejandra’s outfit). :p But I kind of like how they turned out anyway..they look so warm and happy, haha..

And someone also took a photo of Toast, aw~ (edit: I found out that Alejandra took this one ;p )

It was a busy but nice weekend. :] I still have some messages to get to sorry! (I’ve answered the non-anonymous ones, but still need to make a post with the anonymous messages~)
I don’t think there is anything I love more than color~
When I’m upset I wear bright things instead of dark or sad colors. I’ve only tried wearing dull, frumpy clothes when I’m upset once (in highschool); I didn’t like it. For me, colors are always best. They make me happier.
This evening I added more decorations to my room. I wanted to do it before the semester started and I have no free time. :o I still haven’t managed to cover the entire room, still need more magazines and posters~
Earlier this winter I posted a preview of my efforts to organize my life. ;p Here’s the final photo of my fabric shelf!
This is in my room at my parent’s house. A few years ago my fabric was all over the house (actually it probably still is), in plastic bins, in craft cabinets, in my closet etc. And then for christmas of ‘09 my mom got me fabric organizer cards from thefabricorganizer.com. They are amazing. Originally I had thought about cutting out cardboard to accomplish the same thing. But honestly, I don’t think I would’ve been able to find enough flat cardboard for all of my fabric. The organizers are nice and sturdy, and come pre punched with tabs to hold your fabric down~
I’m going to miss this shelf and most of my fabric when I go back to my apartment.. I’ll only be taking a small portion of it with me. :p
My outfit: leggings and necklace are handmade and available in my etsy shop, crop top is by nikkilipstick, shoes are handmade by me and skirt was on sale for $7 from hot topic. :]
This morning I went grocery shopping and accidentally (haha..) wandered into the halloween section. I couldn’t resist, I had to get the purple string lights. :o Though in my mind they went across much more of the living room than they turned out to. I might have to get a couple more strands. :p
I figure that as long as you’re not broke, it doesn’t hurt to spend a little money to treat yourself to something unnecessary once in awhile. These purple lights will make my day a little brighter as long as I live in this apartment, and that’s probably worth a few dollars~
As a side note, I’m pretty sure I was the only person under 30 at the store.. I guess not many people my age go grocery shopping that early in the day. Actually, I’m surprised that I was even there that early..
Also, this morning turned out to be a singing the early beatles kind of morning~ Well, after half a lady gaga album that is..
