Soo.. normally I blog about everything, and usually not too long after it happens. It’s become a habit I guess, though I find it strange because I could never keep a consitent diary or journal when I was younger. I’d write one or two entries and then never touch it again. Same with scrapbooks, photo albums and even blogger blogs. :o

But for some reason I’ve consistently used tumblr to keep track of my life, and to help me remember the details of different projects and memories.

But anywayy (sorry for the rambling, haha), I’m surprised it took me around a week and a half to blog about this particular news; I now have a boyfriend~

It was quite strange to call him that at first (and still a little?). I’ve only technically had one other ‘boyfriend’ and haven’t called anyone ‘boyfriend’ for maybe a year and a half. Some people might say it’s just an uneccesary label, but it does actually make a difference, at least for me.

But as strange as it may be to have a boyfriend, I think I’m warming up to the idea now. ;p His name is Michael, he is quite sweet, and so far hasn’t been scared away by getting to know me~

Remember when I asked what I should do with the red velvet fabric I have? You guys gave me so many great suggestions, thanks so much! My favorite idea was red velvet shorts (a few people suggested that)~ I couldn’t get a shorts pattern though, and I didn’t think I was experienced enough with pants yet to draft my own.. :c

So.. I did manage to find a sewing pattern for a cute little 50s style dress on sale for $0.99. So I decided to make that for now to satisfy my need to use the red velvet. ;p I have plenty leftover so I will definitely still do the shorts (imagine how lovely they would be with a cute print lining in pink~~). Does anyone have any shorts patterns they recommend?

The dress still needs a zipper.. and also some sort of embellishment? I got a roll of black lace for $2.70, and was thinking about appliqueing lace bones or hearts all over it? It feels too plain right now..

Also, I have no idea when I’ll ever get the chance to wear this hmm. It may be the only item of red clothing I own, haha.

Oh and Toast is great at finding the “best” spots to sleep. Cat and velvet means a lot of lint rolling..

I’m not exactly sure anymore.. for that post I used the “embed my face” button and put the code in the video space, but that only shows the most recent robo.to post (so it will change when you update robo.to. :c

I think online people call it two-tone hair, but I’m not sure if all hairdressers are familiar with it. Your best bet is probably to bring photos of something similar, and just describe it to her like you did here. :]

No, I don’t currently sorry! I probably won’t in the future either.. also would depend on if it’s a button on the sidebar or a post…

I use Tulip Soft Fabric Paint, Liquitex Basics acrylic paint, or sometimes a combination of the two. It takes a paintbrush and quite a few layers of paint usually. :]

Hotfix is like a tiny iron that you can use to attach special rhinestones (that have an iron-on backing). I’ve never actually tried it before though so I can’t say how well it works.. I buy cheap rhinestones in 1 pound buckets and attach them with Crafter’s Pick fabric glue.

If you’re attaching them to something stretchy like a bodysuit, you might want to glue them on while you’re wearing it. That way the rhinestones won’t prevent the fabric from stretching as much (does that make sense?..). Good luck on your cosplay!

I didn’t start listening to music that was made post-1980s until my senior year of highschool. These were two of the first “current day” artists I started listening to..so I guess this song holds a bit of nostalgia for me. :]

My roommate Caro showed recently showed me the newest music video of a band called Die Antwoord. I’d never listened to them prior to that, but I’m really enjoying both their music and videos now..I love this song especially after it hits around 1:40.

I also love how there are so many Basquiat-like drawings all over. After I noticed Yolandi’s white crop top I had to make one for myself. I knew that I wouldn’t wear a white shirt so I inverted it and made a black one instead. ;p

Sometimes you just have to make something for yourself. Not for school, selling, or even any practical reason at all. I find that it gets rid of the pent-up stress caused by not having much free time~

Made with a men’s black t-shirt ($0.90 from a thrift store) and tulip soft fabric paint. :]

My parents found it at Ikea for a super discounted $1.99 a yard and picked some up for me (it’s non-stretch). It’s a pretty bright red too; not superr bright, just not a deep red/maroon~

After around 5 months Caro and I finally couldn’t stand our curtains anymore. They came with the apartment, and up until we rearranged the living room we were able to partially ignore them. But after we had a nice new arrangement we were reminded of just how gross and ugly the curtains were (there are giant stains on them..).

So last thursday I rushed home after my class at 7:40 pm so that we could make it to the fabric store. None of the patterned fabrics were exactly what we were looking for.. then we realized that we could make our own pattern to match the blanket that Caro put on the sofa. :D

We had to look through cell phone photos to find shots with our couch in it, haha.. but here is what we finally ended up with. :]] We estimated and bought a bunch of fabric, then used photoshop to decide what order we liked them in.

I failed to remember to check the fabric widths before we bought them (oops). Some of them ended up having 70” widths while others were 35”, so we had to do some creative rearranging of our idea. That’s why two of the panels are split colors. ;p But I actually like them that way now~

Total project time, including purchasing fabric was around 4 hours. We were in a hurry because we were holding our first party the next day, haha.

Next project for the living room is to use the leftover curtain fabric to make covers for the pillows that came with the apartment. c;

The magazine (costume maker magazine for anyone who is interested) was only possible with tons of support from my parents and from many many awesome people online. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the contributions of costumers in online communities like deviantart and cosplay.com. All I did was organize submitted articles into layouts in InDesign, contacted advertisers and worked out the printing of the magazine. Pretty much all of the actual content was from talented costumers across the internet! :]

It’s a lyric from the song “for our elegant caste” by of Montreal. :] It caught my attention but I take it as a sort of “figuring out life as you live it” kinda tone~

I switch off between Tulip Soft Fabric Paint and Liquitex Basics acrylic paint, and sometimes I even mix the two together. ;p

Aw haha, that’s not weird he’s a very lovable cat. ;p And 1) I do love kpop, though I haven’t been keeping up with it lately. 2NE1 is my curent favorite~ 2) I’ve never heard of one direction so I’ll have to look them up later and get back to you. :]

Everyone’s hair is different so there’s no guarantee that it will bleach the same. But yes, I bleach it myself. All hair is damaged after bleaching no matter what, but if your hair is thick and healthy to begin with it will hopefully minimize the damage (also a lot of conditioner helps). :]

I think your best bet would be to get a good brand name within your price range, specifically Brother or Singer. Those are usually really good quality, though I recommend you read up on reviews online first before actually purchasing. And aw, maybe we have twin cats~ ;p

edit: Oops, my twin Eva posted a tutorial about how to buy a sewing machine and I didn’t even know it! ^^; That should be super helpful~~

I used Tulip Soft Fabric paint. It’s a brush on kind rather than a squeeze bottle kind, which means it’s less 3D and easier to spread. Fabric paint in general shouldn’t come off or fade since it’s made to be wearable and go through the wash.

The white fabric I used was a knit fabric and is almost identical to t-shirt fabric. You could definitely just cut out an old white t-shirt instead of buying fabric. :]

Do you mean a crop top? All you need to do is cut the bottom off to your desired length. I personally usually sew up the hems, but that’s completely optional. Hope that helps!

Etsy makes it super simple to deal with fees. They don’t take too much; $0.20 is automatically charged for each item you list, and they also charge a small percentage of your profits once sold (not sure exactly how much off the top of my head).

Shipping is also not too complicated once you figure out how you want to do it. If you’re shipping light things, you can weigh them at home and print shipping labels through paypal, then leave the packages in your mailbox to get picked up. Or you can just take them straight to the post office and they will weigh and charge everything right there (I do it this way currently). Good luck on your shop!

Over winter break I spoiled myself with two main purchases: batpack and these pleather shorts from h&m. I got both of them while shopping with Melissa, haha..

Leather/pleather shorts had been something I was wanting for awhile. I tried on two pairs; one from forever21 and this pair from h&m. The forever21 pair wasn’t nearly as well-made, and the fit wasn’t that good either.. they were only $5 cheaper than the h&m pair so I went with those instead.

Still trying to figure out on what occasion I should wear them.. I feel like they aren’t quite right for class (at least not with this outfit?). But I love them so muchh~

This past weekend, my roommate Caro and I threw our first party. :D

The idea started when I wanted to have a dumpling “party” because I didn’t get the chance to make dumplings for Chinese New Year this year. Then it turned into a pretty large potluck (I made 53 dumplings, Caro made flautas, apple salad and guacamole, and everyone else brought more food and drinks). c;

I don’t have any actual photos from the party. We really regret not getting any photos of the food before we all ate it, haha. The photo above was taken after most people left, and we were about to start playing settlers of catan.

A word of advice: it is NEVER a good idea to start teaching settlers of catan at 1am. And it’s not the first time we’ve tried it either.. ;p

Alejandra wore the sin kitten crop top she bought. ;D Isn’t her outfit cute (with the red belt too~)?

Oh, and we have absolutely no idea who took these photos (besides the one of Alejandra’s outfit). :p But I kind of like how they turned out anyway..they look so warm and happy, haha..

This weekend has been quite strange.. things that I didn’t expect to happen happened regardless of my expectations.

But anyway, here are two things I just received in the mail! Why are my friend so nice to me? (Ｔ▽Ｔ) Melissa sent me a crocheted mohawk cat from etsy seller GeekyCuteCrochet. It’s… really adorable. Ahh thank you Melissaaa ♥ ♥

And Eva sent me a letter, with stickers all over the envelope of course~ She also included a page of shirt design ideas!! And she didn’t even know that earlier today I made the resolution to make a new shirt design every month.. goes to show that as my twin she will always be able to predict my thoughts.

My roommate is hiding. She didn’t realize that she’d be in my webcam photos until a few days after we rearranged the furniture in the living room. And please excuse my weird eyes/expression, I didn’t really feel like taking another photo..

It’s been such an eventful weekend, hopefully I will be able to update my blog more and answer messages soon! :]
