Over this past year I have tried many many times to get pretty, tousled hair. Or really, anything that was messy or had volume. My hair is naturally very straight and it doesn’t help that I know nothing about styling hair. :p

I feel like this is the closest I’ve come, and am quite happy with the results finally. c; The trick? Don’t wash all of my hair everyday.

My hair is naturally oily and I don’t like how it looks at the roots after 24 hours of not showering. I think this is what keeps my hair from getting damaged from all the bleach. But it’s also a nuisance because frequently washing my hair takes the color out more quickly, and keeps it from getting any volume.

What I’ve finally discovered I can do is tie my hair up and put the ponytail (two high pigtails is better) in a baggie to keep it from getting too wet, and just wash the roots of my hair. What happened to my hair prior to taking this photo: washed it at 8 or 9 pm one night, curled it, slept with it, only washed the roots the next morning, fixed some curls, slept and woke up and took this photo.

One day I’ll have this down to a science.
