I finally finished :D
It’s surprisingly hard to take apart shoes! xD When I finally had all the pieces separate, I traced the fabric pieces and made paper patterns of them. The article recommended using “Shoe GOO” but I wasn’t able to find it anywhere.. Al local shoe repairer said sold me something they said worked the same called “Barge” original all purpose cement. It seems to work just fine. :]
This poor shoe has been sitting naked for awhile until I finally started working on it again a couple days ago. :p The fabric I got in Taiwan this summer. It’s my favoriteee. =w=
And as a warning, if anyone wants to try doing this, make sure you use All Star converse and not One Star converse. I think the article mentioned it but I hadn’t noticed.. The one star have a rubber heel in the back that makes the process just that much more difficult. D; But it still works, so if you already have one stars it’s fine.
I’m working on a pair of custom converse. :] There was an article in Craft magazine (which sadly discontinued their print version!) awhile ago about taking apart converse and making your own.
This poor shoe has been sitting naked for awhile until I finally started working on it again today. :p The fabric I got in Taiwan this summer. It’s my favoriteee. =w=
Was playing with my dad’s new camera today, a Canon Rebel T2i.
It takes such nice photos. =w= *drools*
I snapped a shot of my favorite comic of all time. All four panels are amazing.
My freshly organized sock drawer… If you haven’t been able to figure it out by now, I really like color. :p
I am not enjoying finding a place for everything I brought back from my dorm room. ;o
The costumes I made for Anime Central this year. : D Howl and Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle.
Pretty much finished, though the wig for Howl (my very understanding boyfriend ;p) ended up a bit too short because I cut it without him being there to measure against… I plan on taking more photos as soon as I get a new wig for him. :]
This amazing photo is by my friend SpecialAlex. :]]]
I saw this license plate in a Jewel Osco parking lot.
It made me really happy and made me sing “Summer Nights.” ;p
For a few weeks now I’ve been trying to find out how to achieve that indie/hipster/washed-out photo look. I wasn’t (and am still not) sure if there were certain camera settings or if it was done after the shot was taken. After searching around I’ve found that a lot of people do it afterward in programs like photoshop.
I searched for things like “faded photo” tutorials and had no luck until today when I searched “post process photo” on deviantart.com and found this wonderful tutorial by night-fate. After following this tutorial I finally achieved the indie photo look I’ve been searching for. :D This set of photos I took so I could have something to test photo editing on. How you see them now is what they look like after using night-fate’s tutorial. :]
I think I’ve done a lot today. D; I think I’ve been pretty productive, seeing as it’s almost 4 am.. xD I should probably go to sleep now..
The trim isn’t permanently on, I just pinned it on to see what it would look like because I couldn’t wait. ;p
In progress photo of the Howl jacket I am making. :] I decided to paint the diamonds on rather than sew pieces of fabric together because I felt like it’d look smoother that way and it’d save a little time. :p
